LauraLynn House

The main project consisted of the construction of a 2 storey building with 8 single bed occupancy childcare bedrooms and en-suites for the palliative care of terminally ill children. The facility also provided separate ensuite bedrooms at first floor level to accommodate visiting families. The building was a traditional build but with great emphasis on environment and sustainability.

A high level of sensitive building services were required including oxygen, vacuum supply and storage, Nurses call systems, overhead hoist facilities, overall access control, CCTV and a very demanding requirement for disabled access, egress and utilisation of sanitary and hydro-bath facilities.

All of the existing care facility remained in use during the construction works. Glenbeigh had to ensure that there was minimal disruption to the palliative care area and it's patients. Through careful planning and the fostering of a strong working relationship with the local management Glenbeigh was able to ensure that the work carried out on the project had a minimal impact on the palliative care of the children.

The LauraLynn House project won a two LAMA awards, one in the Category” Best Healthcare Building 2013” and it also won the overal best building prize.
